A big co-sign can go a long way. We’ve seen what happens when someone like Kanye West publicly endorses a new artist, but it doesn’t usually happen like this.
Lorde really liked Irish artist EDEN’s song “Sex,” but instead of reaching out for a collaboration or tweeting about it, she opted to go straight to EDEN’s Facebook wall and let him know she’s a fan. “i wasn’t sure how to contact you, so i went for the old facebook wall,” she wrote on Monday, June 13.
EDEN still has under 100,000 Facebook fans, but Lorde has almost seven million, and some of them are taking notice.
Here’s what Lorde’s note said:
Two days later, on June 15, EDEN finally saw the post and responded:
EDEN is a 20-year-old producer/singer from Ireland, and “Sex” is a single from his upcoming EP, i think you think too much of me. Fans are already asking for a collaboration, but EDEN is getting ready to head out on a big tour and he seems to be keeping things moving. Maybe he should consider adding a New Zealand date. The obvious lesson for rising artists: check your Facebook wall. Lorde might be a fan.
