I recently got the opportunity to interview St. Louis artist Arshad Goods! In this exclusive interview with UHTN, Arshad speaks on his favorite albums, favorite movies, plans for 2016, and more. Check out the full interview below!
UHTN: First off, introduce yourself to the people!
Arshad: I go by the name of Arshad Goods. Real middle name. I’m from St. Louis. I make music. I like art. Yeah.
UHTN: If you were stranded on an island for the rest of your life and could only take 3 albums with, which ones would you choose and why?
Arshad: Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. It’s just classic. 2Pac “Greatest Hits” which might be cheating but I’m still picking it. I like getting the mix of multiple albums from him. And College Dropout or Aquemini. I’ll lean towards College Dropout but both I think changed the soundscape of music. I think those three would get me something for whatever mood I might be in on an island.
UHTN: You’re from St.Louis. What restaurant or fast food is your “go to” place to eat?
Arshad: Easy. Any rice spot where I can get a shrimp St. Paul, some special fried rice and a Vess soda. Imo’s (our pizza spot) is a close second. And I can’t forget Contrary Cupcakes on the southside in case I have a sweet tooth that
UHTN: What are some of your favorites movies of all-time?
Arshad: Paid in Full. The Wood. Lucy. I’ve probably seen all three of those at least 200 times if you added them up. Runner up is Coming To America.
UHTN: What else do you have planned for the rest of 2016? Is a new EP on the horizon?
Arshad: More shows. More music. Those are a given, but I really want to connect with more people and not just build a following but more so a relationship with people that’s deeper than music. It’s a lot going on these days in the world, so us communicating and building is more crucial than ever.
UHTN: Who do you think is going to win the NBA Playoffs this year and why? (Question was obviously asked before the playoffs ended!)
Arshad: I gotta ride with the Cavs because I’ve been a LeBron fan since I was in high school. They’re in a tough spot being down 3-2 so hopefully they pull it out and Bron can get ring number 3. I can’t help but respect and admire what the Warriors did this year though.
UHTN: What else would you like to tell the people? Any shout outs you’d like to give?
Arshad: Shoutout to everyone putting in the work to make their vision a reality. Keep inspiring. Ya’ll keep me on my toes.
